The winter season is in our doorstep and with COVID restrictions expected to be eased, we can expect the season of ice oval snowmobile races gearing up to full power. They have had their ups and downs in the past too. But when in full swag, they have attracted ten thousands of fans through US and Canada. USSA is the prime organization approving the ice oval snowmobile races to be held every year. They have scheduled 9 events for the coming season. Let’s have a look at what all we can look for this season of the prestigious racing.
Canadian Power Toboggan Championship

The season of USSA ice oval snowmobile racing is set to start with the Canadian Power Toboggan Championship, Beausejour, Manitoba. This will be the 59th edition of CPTC. They have the world’s fastest and safest ice oval snowmobile track of half miles. With speeds soaring above 170km/hr, it is a great opportunity to kick start the season with the CPTC event about to be held on the December 11 and December 12 this year. It is conducted as a part of the USSA ProStar Cup Series.
The 60th edition scheduled on the March 5, 2022 to March 6, 2022 will be the last event in the USSA ice oval snow mobile racing. So it starts with the CPTC and ends with the CPTC.
Ironwood Snowmobile Olympus

The season’s second USSA ice oval snowmobile racing series is the Ironwood Snowmobile Olympus. Ironwood Snowmobile Olympus at the Gogebic Country Fairgrounds has a long history 53 years with ups and downs. The event will be held on January8, 2022 and January 9, 2022 at the half mile ice oval track at Gogebic Country Fairgrounds, Ironwood, Michigan. The race is conducted as a part of the USSA Pro Star Series. It is one of the ice oval races that many have in their bucket list. You can contact them for more details regarding tickets and parking.
World Championship Derby Complex

The season of WCDC is expected to kick off with the Vintage World Championship Snowmobile Races. The racing is specifically dedicated to the old racing snowmobiles of the sixties, seventies and eighties. This event is a reminiscent of the good old days of oval racing. The venue is the World Championship Derby Complex, Eagle River which is known as the “Snowmobile Capital of the World”. The events are scheduled for January 6 to January 9, 2022. The next up in WCDC is the 59th World Championship Snowmobile Derby, which is a prestigious ice oval racing. The Snowmobile Derby is scheduled to be conducted from January 13 to January 16, 2022. The venue is the World Championship Derby Complex, Eagle River. The January 14th event is the 3rd event of the USSA ProStar Cup Series, knowm as Friday Night Thunder. With above 55 year old tradition, the Eagle River ice oval track is expecting the international snowmobile riders to race against each other to grab the top spot. The World Championship Snowmobile Derby is one of the prestigious winter sports activities in the Midwest with world recognition. Also known as the Indianapolis 500 of the snowmobile racing, it attracts ten thousands of spectators every year. With speeds crossing about 100miles per hour on the solid ice oval trail, the World Championship Snowmobile Derby has locked some of the best racing moments in the history of snowmobile racing. Ticket selling is expected to start soon.
Next up is the World Series of Snowmobile Racing, which is known as an encore of the World Championship Snowmobile Derby. This snowmobile racing event is set to feature the USSA ProStar Series. The race dates are from February 5 to February 6, 2022 at the Eagle River venue. The February 6 event is the 7th race in the ProStar Cup series. Tickets are expected to be available soon.
Wausau 525 Snowmobile Championship

The 2022 Wausau 525 Snowmobile Championship will be held at the 110 feet wide ice oval track at Wausau, Wisconsin. The race will be conducted as part of USSA Pro Cup Series ( 4th race) on January 22, 2022 and January 23, 2022. The weekend will see the pro racers and semi pro racers race against each other at high speeds. For more details, you can catch up the website.
Buffalo River Racing

Another ice oval racing event returning this season is the Buffalo River Racing with its blue ice track. The event will be conducted as part of the USSA Pro Star Series( 5th event) at the Buffalo River Race Park, Fargo, North Dakota. The races are scheduled between January 29, 2022 and January 30, 2022. It will be a spectacular event for the racers and the spectators when the snowmobiles will be pitted against each other at the quarter mile ice oval track. Fire On Ice

The event is also held as part of the USSA Pro Cup Series. It is scheduled between February 4, 2022 and February 5, 2022 at the ice oval track at Weyauwega, Wisconsin as the 6th race in the USSA Pro Cup Series. The event is a much awaited one and you can tune in for more details on the website.
Grand Prix Ski-Doo de Valcourt

For those with the obsession for speed, you can’t miss out the Grand Prix Ski-Doo. The event is scheduled as part of the USSA ProStar Cup Series (8th race). The 39th edition is scheduled from February 11, 2022 to February 13, 2022. The ice oval venue is in Valcourt, Qubec. This event has garners about 30000 fans every year.
